The words core training, golf fitness, and improving your golf swing have become common words in golf. It is well known the number of professional golfers utilizing a golf fitness program to improve their golf swing. Addition to this well-known situation a common word has become connected to the phrase golf fitness. This phrase has become a buzzword in the world of golf. Unfortunately many do not understand the phrase and the relevance it can have on the golf swing. The phrase is core training. Core training can be a great benefit to your golf swing as a part of comprehensive golf fitness program.

Unfortunately many amateur golfers are unsure of the exact definition of core training and the relevance it may or may not have on a golf fitness program. The core is a reference to an anatomical area of body. The core is the anatomical area of your body from above the knees to below the chest. It includes all the muscles, nerves, and bones within in this anatomical region of the body. It must also be noted that the core includes all the neuromuscular structures on the front, side, and back of your body. For example, your lower back muscles are a part of the core as are your abdominals.

Core training is an integral part of a comprehensive golf fitness program because this is the anatomical area of the body where the majority of the golf swing occurs. For example, the golf swing requires you to rotate around a fixed spine angle. The majority of muscles allowing rotation to occur around a fixed spine angle are found within the core region. The golf swing requires a full shoulder turn to execute correctly. The muscles allowing the shoulders to rotate are mostly found within the core region of the body. These are just a few examples providing a reference between the biomechanics of the golf swing and the core region of the body.

Understanding the connection between the biomechanics of the golf swing and the core should begin to shine some light on why core training can be beneficial to the golf swing. Overall, the golf swing requires certain levels of flexibility, balance, strength, endurance, and power to execute correctly. If the body lacks the required levels within these physical components the golf swing will be difficult to execute correctly. Knowing that a large portion of the movements in the golf swing occur within the core region, it becomes obvious developing these physical components become necessary in order to improve your golf swing.

The key component of core training in relation to the golf swing centers upon the principle of cross-specificity training. Cross-specificity training implies the exercises within the core program train the body to the positions, movements, and requirements of the sport. A core training program beneficial to the golf swing must train the body specifically for the anatomical positions, movements, and actions encountered on the golf course.

The goal of cross-specific core program is to develop a transfer of training effect. The majority of fitness programs and many core programs do not address the needs of the golfer relative to improving flexibility, balance, strength, endurance, and power. A cross-specific core program will provide the foundation for a better golf swing. Just because a program is labeled a "core program" does not necessarily mean it will be beneficial to improving the golf swing.

Once the golfer understands the concepts of cross-specific training, transfer of training effect, core, and the biomechanics of the golf swing. You can begin to piece together the components of a golf fitness program. Outside of providing the foundation for the golf swing through providing the golfer with the needed levels of flexibility, balance, strength, endurance, and power to efficiently execute the golf swing. A golf fitness program can also improve a golfer's swing.

One common area of desired improvement for most any golfer is increased distance. Increased distance in the golf swing is equated to increased clubhead speed. And increased clubhead speed is directly related to the golfer's power outputs. Increasing power within the golf swing is connected to both swing mechanics and the body. The coiling and uncoiling within the golf swing directly affects the power outputs generated. In addition the body has a direct affect upon power development in the golf swing. Power in relation to the body can be defined as the ability of the body to create the greatest amount of force in a short amount of time.

If the golfer increases the ability of the body to generate more force, what will be the result within the golf swing? The golfer is more powerful, an increase in clubhead speed will occur, and the golf ball will probably travel farther. Interestingly enough improving power outputs by the body in relation to the golf swing, centers upon developing greater power outputs by the core region. Again, the golf swing is a rotational movement centering in the core region of the body. Increasing the force outputs of the muscles in the core can invariably improve the power in your golf swing. This again is only one example of where core training and golf fitness can improve the golf swing. Many additional areas of improvement can occur when the golfer develops the body correctly for the golf swing.

Understand the biomechanics of the golf swing require certain levels of flexibility, balance, strength, endurance, and power to execute correctly. The golfer requires minimal levels of these physical components at the very least to execute the golf swing correctly. The core is an anatomical region of the body where much of the movements within the golf swing occur. A core training program can be beneficial to improving the golf swing if the exercises within the program are cross-specific to the movements, positions, and physical requirements of the golf swing. If the core program is not cross specific to the golf swing, the benefits may less than optimal. Realize a comprehensive golf fitness program includes core training to develop the body around the golf swing. Such a program can improve the golf swing in areas like clubhead speed. And remember just because a program is labeled "core" does not necessarily mean it will improve your golf swing. The exercises within the core program must correlate with the movements of the golf swing.

Keeping a solid and firm golf grip while swinging is critical to your golfing consistency and success. Now there are many different "ideas" on how hard you should grip the golf club, e.g. hold the grip as though youre holding a baby bird OR hold the grip as tight as you would a loaf of bread etc., etc. But the bottom line really is not so much how hard you hold the grip but its how hard you dont hold it.

What do I mean?

Well in an ideal world you should hold the golf grip just hard enough so it doesnt slip or move around when you swing. Now how hard that is for you or me varies greatly on the strength of our hands.

If you have very strong hands then you may not need to hold the golf grip as hard as, say, I would. So the defining line on how hard to golf grip a club is by how much it moves and heres a great way to determine your golf grip movement.

Line up 6 balls in a row on tees and then start at the first one and hit it and dont alter your golf grip and then hit the next ball and the next one. And if you come to a point when you cant hit the ball because your golf grip is nothing like it should be then you know that your golf grip has slipped when youve swung. If you cant hit the second shot because of your grip movement then youve got a grip slippage problem that needs fixing fast.

The main key to your grip slipping will most probably be due to your top hand moving. So heres a simple exercise you can do to help fix this.

Grip the golf club as normal. But just before you swing place a golf tee between the pad of your left hand and the golf grip. Now this golf tee should be securely in place by the pressure that you're placing on the golf grip with your left hand. Once it is you simply need to swing as normal and keep the tee in place.

Naturally this can only happen if you don't move your top hand grip. And this will happen naturally just by you being aware of the golf tee and trying to keep it in place. Then after some practice with this exercise go back and do the 6 ball exercise and see if you've improved your grip security.

I'm sure you will find you have improved it. So try this and see for yourself.

Mastering the art of the golf swing could be complicated and challenging, and you are most probably trying to improve yours. There are a couple of very simple errors in balance that most people make but can easily be avoided. Here are two simple tips on improving your balance and golf swing, as well as correct the basic slip-ups that you could be doing.

1. A Good Setup, A Good Balance, A Good Swing

A good tip for improving your golf swing would be improving your setup. A lot of golfers do not have a good balance because they started off from a bad setup. If you have a good and solid setup, you would be able to keep balanced as you swing. Maintaining your balance would give you a solid swing plane as well as a good pivot. Make sure keep your whole body under control during your setup so you could improve your balance and swing.

2. Swinging Too Hard

Although having great distance is essential, having perfect control of your swing is equally important. What usually happens is since you want distance, you give your all you can when you swing. This causes you to wheel around and lose your balance, as you swing too hard. What you would need to do is trust your club. It is already designed to send the ball to great lengths so you would need to focus on making your swing as solid, as steady and as balanced as possible to stay in the fairway.

So much ink has flown in the attempt to provide tips for the perfect golf swing that it makes things seem so complicated when in fact they are not. Adding more information to an already very popular subject such as the perfect golf swing has only succeeded in making things worse. Lets have a simplified view of the way to get to master the perfect golf swing and the key-word here is imitation. There are several main possible flaws in a golf swing, the speed of movement, the lack of coordination between arms and body or deficient eye focus.

Watch a professional player execute a perfect golf swing and you will see that a moderate, yet firm body movement only takes a second or even less. By imitating the balancing and learning a few golf tricks yourself, you may easily come and perform the perfect gold swing yourself. It very much depends on what kind of shot you want to take: a long shot requires a different position than a short one. For instance, when you want to have a long distance and sure shot, the perfect golf swing is achieved by shifting the body weight from one foot to the other.

The head movement is also important for the perfect golf swing. By this we actually mean a comfortable position in which the head is three to five inches to the right before hitting the ball. Once the club has touched it, your head will move onwards describing a circular movement. However, dont try to focus on the exact precision of these details. The perfect gold swing has to come naturally and sometimes, though you understand it technically, it still doesnt work. So, too much thinking and too little practice may keep you away from the perfect swing.

Last but not least, if for some people the perfect golf swing seems a true natural talent; it is often not the case. There may be many hours of training or practice behind the perfect golf swing, since this is the way to getting the best shots and hit the green as often as possible. In order to improve your skills and find the way to the perfect golf swing have a look at Ultimate Golf Tips. There are also lots of forums were you may see videos of great golf games, so, surf the net, its really useful.

One of the quickest ways to improve your putting game is to improve your posture. Jack Nicklaus was the first great golfer who made it popular to put your eyes directly over the ball when you are putting. This is very hard to do for many golfers so it has been suggested that a small mirror can be placed on the green and your golf ball can then be placed right on top of the mirror.

Eyes over the ball - To see if your eyes are indeed over the ball, make sure and stand in such a way that you can actually see your own eyes in the mirror. If you can't see your own eyes, then you need to adjust your posture. A simpler method might be to let your putter hang from between your eyes and then make sure the club extends down directly over your golf ball. These techniques are great for getting the proper stance and alignment to the hole.

Placement of Your Feet - In terms of posture, it is also important to think about the way you place your feet and how you hold your body. If you typically miss your putts to the right, you may be standing too close to the ball. If you are missing to the left, you may be standing too far from the ball. These are not hard and fast rules but they are something to consider when you are adjusting your posture.

Shoulders Over Hands - Your foot position will also effect the way your hands are hanging down from your shoulders. It is usually best if your hands are hanging directly beneath your shoulders. This will typically create a smoother stroke and a better direction on the ball. The most important consideration, however, is to keep your head and your body very still as you putt. You only need to move your arms and your hands. Nothing else!

Relax and Enjoy - Finally, it's important not to get too caught up with the mechanics of your putting. Some people will insist on certain grips that will supposedly be better than others. Finding a grip that is comfortable to you and experimenting with the various postures will eventually give you a stance that is right for you. Consider the basic techniques for improved posture and then settle into a stance that is most comfortable.

Stick with What Works for You- Once you determine that successful stance, go ahead and stick with it even when you have a bad day. Practice it until it becomes perfect. Too many golfers become overly concerned with each specific detail of their stance, changing things every week and never really settling in to a relaxed posture. Don't forget that a general relaxation and enjoyment of the game is paramount to having a successful swing and a low score. You have to have fun out there in order to truly enjoy the game!

The best golf exercises are not complicated; you don't need to be a member of a gym; and you don't need thousands of dollars in equipment. Yes...there are new golf fitness machines coming out in the market that look respectable, but they want an arm and a leg for them.

When you think of the best golf exercises, you've got to think like an athlete for a minute. Golf is an athletic sport, and thanks to guys like Tiger Woods, golfers are realizing they need to train like an athlete to see improvement.

Most athletes don't ever use machines. Machines guide you through certain ranges of motion that don't benefit the golf swing. The golf swing is a very dynamic movement, that is not like other movements.

The baseball swing is very similar from a mechanical standpoint...but two distinct differences. In baseball you react' to a moving object (in golf the ball is not moving); and in baseball the ball is approximately waist high and in golf it's on the ground.

So in order to incorporate the best golf exercises, you've got to take a look at your body position and the muscles involved to maintain that position.

What is it?

We know at address you have a tilt in your spine, a bend at the hips and knees. And even a little ankle flex. That's a somewhat athletic position, similar to a squat, but not quite.

Now...not only are you in the position, but now you have to swing a long lever (club) at over 80 plus mph and stay in this position (posture).

Impossible if you have weak and stiff golf specific muscles!

Here's is a quick test. When you are in your golf posture, just start touching the muscles in your body that are flexed. It will be the quads, hamstrings, glutes, calves and even the lower back muscles.

So we know that the best golf exercises will hit those muscle groups (and preferably in a standing position).

Now add the very powerful rotation of your upper body (backswing) and you've got the core involved. So you'll need to do some golf exercises that incorporate core rotation and flexibility.

As you can see, the best golf exercises are NOT on machines and do not need to be done in a gym.

All you need is a pair of dumbbells, some inexpensive exercise tubing and maybe a weighted medicine ball and you can dramatically improve your golf swing right in your home in less than 30 minutes a day!

Hopefully you are motivated to take this approach to your golf improvement and you have a better understanding of what the best golf exercises are

Why the whole production over golf grips? This inexpensive part of your golfing gear can be the deciding factor in your game. I know, I know, the latest golf cart accessories are much more inviting than a club grip. Perhaps the 'ordinariness' of this humble piece of equipment is the reason why so many players neglect to pay adequate attention to it. Try to keep your eye on the fact that these are vital when it comes to control of the club. In fact, your golf grip choice will have a direct bearing on the flight of the ball.

Both size and texture play a major role. While many players opt for a fairly bulky style, a more neutral size may be beneficial. At the other end of the spectrum, too small a golf grip may result in drawing or pulling of the ball. The larger styles may be more comfortable if you have a joint ailment.

Opt for a smaller design if you have a tendency to slice the ball. If you tend to hook the ball, a larger option may get you into a more desired groove.

Some golf equipment companies make use of color coding to simplify the process of choosing the right match for you. A wide variety of materials are available, each with specific characteristics. Some of the most well-known brands are Golf Pride, Winn golf grips, Lamkin golf grips, Tacki-Mac, Avon, Karakal and the Tour collection.

6 Manufacturing Styles To Choose From

Polymer: These soft-styled designs are now often manufactured from a substance called EPDM. The finished product has excellent friction and remains in good condition for a long time.

Rubber: These are usually a mixture of rubber and cork. These slip-on styles are pressure molded, sanded and finished with paint. They usually come with a rib that helps to guide hand placement. Golf Pride's all-rubber design comes with a firm, black core that extends to the surface in certain areas. This becomes your thumb-placement guide and adds extra stability. This is an excellent golf club grip to try if you have arthritis.

Leather: Although not suitable for wet weather, cowhide or calfskin collections offer what is known as good tackiness. This is one of the less affordable options on the market.

Corded: These are excellent for use when it is raining, due to its non-slip properties. Thread is used to cord a mix of synthetic and natural rubber golf grips. It is quite understandable that these are not glove-friendly. One example of this is Golf Pride's Tour Velvet Cord material.

3M Greptile Gripping Material: This superb material offers a high level of tackiness, friction and hold in all kinds of weather. Part of the secret is that it releases just as easily. If you long to achieve a consistent, golf super swing, 3M may offer exactly what you need. Thousands of tiny 'fingers' help you to hold your club with less effort. The injection molded design is manufactured from a material with a polyurethane base. Unique strips are also available if you want to modify your gloves for better performance in wet weather.

Thermoplastic Rubber: Why not join the 'in' crowd with the Funky Golf collection made from thermoplastic rubber? The vibrant colors will brighten your day. These golf grips won't absorb sweat and will retain their tackiness for long periods.

When it comes to putters, you can choose between a paddle grip and a pistol style. Take a look at the Lamkin Deep-Etched Paddle design with its deep, horizontally etched pattern.

Many companies provide products for people with joint problems. The Lamkin Arthritic with its nubbed texture is another example of this effort to make the sport comfortable and accessible to people with arthritis. This particular line reduces hand pressure noticeably.

A variety of tools are available to help you to remove old grips without damaging your club shaft. One of these is the Rhino Rip tool which slides on top of the shaft and slice through the outer material. It has been designed to be safe for use on graphite shafts as well.

You need to consider the weight as well, as this has a significant effect on your swing's weight. Don't make a change without taking this into consideration. The two major factors when making a decision, has to do with the core of the grip and the outer dimension of the shaft of the club. If your grips are worn out, you will probably be holding your club with too much tension in your hands, arms and shoulders, affecting your distance severely.

Remember that golf club grips oxidize and lose their grasp in time, so you need to keep an eye on their condition.

The right golf grip can have a marked effect on the quality of your game, and transform you from a mediocre golfer into a worthy opponent.

Click here to discover how you can slice your handicap by 7 to 12 strokes in just 2 weeks...

Knowing which club to buy for your golf style will play a major role in whether or not you have a great game of golf. The standard golf set includes three woods, ten irons and a putter. Your golf experience will determine the type of clubs to pick. This article will help break down how to select clubs for all levels of play. Follow this advice and you will be out on the green with your new clubs in no time! Here's my method-

1.First! Choosing the Correct Golf Club.To maximize your potential, buying shorter clubs will have more accurate ball contact when you swing. For beginners, it is recommended they select woods or irons because the large and flat soles make it easier to make ball contact which results in shots that go farther. One specific club type suggestion for beginners is the mallet putter. Mallet putters are very well aligned and will make it easier for short putts.http://golfclub-review.blogspot.com

2.In golf, various types of golf clubs are used. In fact, a golfer may carry up to fourteen clubs during a round as per game rules. The principle of this is that in playing golf, it is easier to keep your swing as invariable as possible and attain variable lengths and distinctiveness of ball flight using different club for each shot. There is a technique for finding the center of gravity on your club face. Finding the center of gravity is crucial to your success! I would rather swing the golf club 85 miles per hour and hit the center of gravity than swing 95 miles an hour out on the toe of the golf club.

3.Hold the clubface up close to your ear and bounce a golf ball off the face. Bounce it all around the club face. You'll notice a different sound and a different bounce off different positions on the face of the golf club. Of course we havent mentioned that hitting the ball off the center of gravity also creates additional torque that will open or close the club face and send your shots off line.

4.Continue to bounce the ball until you find one spot that seems to sound the best and you get a better bounce off the face of the club and the club face doesn't wiggle as much, (torque) in your hand. On most golf clubs, the center of gravity will not be the exact center of the club face.

5.When, Once you find what you think is the center of gravity put some face tape on your club face. You can buy some at most golf stores or go on line to a company called Longshot and buy it by the roll. If you're serious about your golf game you should be checking yourself for centeredness of hit constantly so you will use up the roll faster than you think.

6.Don't fall for the gag the golf club companies tell you about having a bigger sweet spot. Bravo Sierra! Center of gravity is center of gravity! You may need to set up your driver at address with the ball appearing to be a little inside of center to get your eye used to hitting the ball where you're suppose to. Most golfers don't realize that they hit the ball out on the toe with their driver. My suggestion is to get some face tape, find the center of gravity, hit balls until you can get your contact as close to the center of gravity as you can.

7.And most important, The Golf clubs in different materials are also often being reviewed especially by golf experts and professionals. Golf club reviews will help you get views on what club you should get and what specific brand fits your golfing styles. Reviews about damages and shipments may also help you be very particular about golf club dealers.

Club selection is going to determine how well you play so it's important to take the time and select the right Golf Club Reviews.

C. Ewan is a golf professional in the UK and has been teaching golf for 20 years. His wealth of knowledge and experience is mind blowing! He's coached players on the European Tour as well as the average man (and woman) next door.

He specialises in improving your golf game and bringing down your handicap. Previous students have included Steve Webster, Sam Walker and Tom Whitehouse, who are all now on the Professional European Tour.

Here, he looks briefly at the golf scoring game and putting stroke.

He asks, how many times do you leave a makeable putt short? Well, the higher your handicap the more likely you are to end up not even getting it past the hole, let alone in it.

Short game expert Dave Pelz produced some great research saying that PGA Tour Pros on average leave their putts 2ft 5inches short from a 25ft putt, if they did not hole the putt.

The research also indicates that a golfer with a handicap of 20 is 6ft 5inches short and even more incredible is the average for a beginner is 9ft short. Ouch, those three putts really hurt!

If this sounds like you, then try to work more on the pace of the putt rather than concentrating on the line. (The pace has a big say on just how much break there is any way.)

A great speed drill is to place a shaft 3ft behind a practice hole. Then from 20 to 30 feet try to hole out, but monitor how often your ball finishes short of the hole, and then try to make it finish past the hole but short of the shaft. As your pace improves your line and green reading will become much more consistent.

In golf there are two types of putting strokes that you should be aware of, the 'straight back and through' and the 'arc'.

Neil's least preferred style is a straight back and through putting stroke. In this type of stroke the putter moves straight back from the ball and the face of the blade tries to stay square to the ball-to-hole line. Then on the downswing the face has to open the same amount. To make this stroke work, the face needs to be manipulated in a shut-to-open fashion. This can produce a roll with a sliced and skid shape

This style of stroke was made very popular by short game guru Dave Pelz. In his book "the putting bible" Pelz promotes a shoulder dominated straight-line motion with no forearm rotation.

Neil's preferred putting style is to let the putter work on a more natural in-to-in shape with the face staying square to the arc. This arcing in-to-in path has a more open to closing face like a swing door. The face should be kept square to the plane of movement - a style similar to the shape to the full swing fundamentals.

Golf is a difficult game to master and most golfers just don't have the time it takes to practice, practice, and practice to significantly improve it. When you're playing golf badly it isn't much fun, but you can change it if you apply yourself. You may receive the best golf tips in the world, take countless lessons and get superior instruction and still may not be able to gain consistency.

Overall, you generally want to play golf with confidence; know you are improving your swing each time you play. Approach the game with a positive attitude and repeat affirmations, for example, 'I play the greatest golf all the time.' It's been proven that thinking positively about bettering your golf game will benefit you more than playing to compete with your partners and trying to win for the sake of winning. Not that if you've hit with your golf driver perfectly just once, then you can do it every time; the subconscious mind knows the correct number and sequence of muscle contractions and nerve impulses that are needed, called muscle memory.

And make sure not to grip the golf club too tightly. When you swing, use the muscles in your legs and trunk. Before you swing, make sure you're relaxed; contract all your muscles tightly for a moment, then relax them.

Putting can become a nightmare and a condition called the 'yips' has affected not only amateurs but golf professionals; get expert advice and consider a golf swing trainer. Use the basic 'hitchhiker' position when working on your back swing. Ask your golf pro to evaluate your posture and body mechanics while you're swinging.

The most important thing about the golf swing is the angle, not the strength that's applied to it, that's one of many swing secrets. At the end of a swing, the weight has shifted almost entirely to the left foot, the body is fully turned to the left and the hands are above the left shoulder with the club hanging down over your back. Accomplished golfers purposely use sidespin to steer the ball around obstacles or head toward the safe side of fairways and greens.

At the end of a back swing the hands are above the right shoulder with the golf club pointing more or less in the intended direction of the ball flight. It is difficult for a golfer to practice hitting shots longer than short pitch shots unless of course, one pays to play golf or pays to practice at a driving range or indoor golf training facility.

Once you realize that you can change your swing by using a simple technique, you'll never underestimate golf fitness again. To prevent injury and improve swing speed and distance requires your body to be strong and flexible. By conditioning your golf muscles you'll be rewarded with straighter swings. You can get rid of annoying shoulder problems with some simple techniques.

You can find golf trainers that will help you with your wrist and arm position. If you're looking for an aid to improve your stance they're easy to find. There are golf swing aids that will help you with your swing alignment too.

Golf swing trainers and aids can often be found online and are often much cheaper. Sporting goods stores also have trainers to improve your game. And they are often available for sale at your pro shop or local golf shop.

There are a wide range of golf swing aids and analyzers on the market today to help the beginning and advanced golfer improve his or her swing techniques. If you're a golfing novice and just starting out, it's easy to become overwhelmed. Before buying any aid or trainer for your swing, check with an expert to get an idea of what problem you will need to work on first; for example, back lift of golf swing, momentum of downward thrust or the stance.

Buy some golf videos or DVDs and golf swing software, review them and commit yourself to a time to practice what you learn. When you play a round of golf, concentrate on your putting, improving your golf swing or something specific for that day; have a plan in mind each time. Try to concentrate on one of the weaknesses in your swing.

If you apply both mental and physical workouts, your reward will be some super golf swing improvement. Make sure to practice, practice, practice and practice for the perfect, super golf swing!
